# Moderation

Moderation gives you two ways to keep your server under control: automatically respond to unwanted messages and keep records of important server activity.

Everything in this section is configured from **Dashboard → Server Control → Moderation**.

### Moderation Sections

| Section | What it does |
| ------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Auto Moderation** | Detects selected types of message content and can delete the message, notify the member, or apply a punishment |
| **Audit Logs** | Sends records of selected server events to channels you choose |

### Permissions

Moderation actions depend on Discord permissions. For example, deleting messages requires **Manage Messages**, while Timeout, Kick, and Ban require their corresponding moderation permissions.

Role hierarchy also applies: Asagi cannot moderate members whose highest role is equal to or above its own.

The individual guides below explain the permissions relevant to each feature.

### Where to Go Next

Continue with [**Auto Moderation**](/server-control/moderation/auto-moderation.md) to configure automatic message filters, or [**Audit Logs**](/server-control/moderation/audit-logs.md) to track server activity.
