Reaction Roles
Reaction Roles lets members manage roles by reacting to messages created through the Asagi dashboard.
Everything on this page is configured from Dashboard → Members & Roles → Reaction Roles.

Channel and Message
Reaction Role messages can be sent to a text channel or announcement channel. You can also create a new channel from the channel selector if you need one.
For the message itself, choose one of two sources:
Custom — build the message directly in the editor;
My Templates — reuse one of your saved Embed Messages templates.
When an existing Reaction Role setup is edited, Asagi synchronizes the message and configured reactions with the existing Discord message.
Message Mode
Reaction Roles supports two modes.
Single Role per Message
Use Single role per message when members should only keep one choice from that Reaction Role message.
When a member adds a configured reaction, Asagi removes their other reactions from the same message and removes roles assigned by those other configured reactions before applying the new choice.
Because Asagi removes reactions in this mode, it also needs the Manage Messages permission.
Multiple Roles per Message
Use Multiple roles per message when members should be able to choose several reactions independently.
Each configured reaction works on its own, so members can keep roles from multiple reactions on the same message.
Assigned Roles
Use Assigned roles when reacting should give one or more roles to the member.
For each reaction:
select an emoji;
select one or more roles to assign.
When the member removes that reaction, Asagi removes the roles configured under Assigned roles for it.
Taken Roles
Use Taken roles when reacting should remove one or more roles from the member.
This is useful when a reaction represents opting out of an existing role.
Important: removing a Taken Roles reaction does not restore the roles that were removed. The removal happens when the reaction is added.
Emoji Rules
Each emoji can only be used once inside the same Reaction Role setup, including across Assigned roles and Taken roles.
You can use standard emoji or custom emoji available in the editor. If an emoji is already used by another reaction in the same setup, the dashboard prevents it from being selected again.
Quick Start
Reaction Roles includes ready-to-use Quick Start presets for common setups:
Verify — a simple rule-confirmation flow;
Colors — let members choose a color role;
Region — let members choose a region role.
A preset gives you a starting configuration that you can review and customize before saving.

Limits
The available limits depend on whether the server has Premium.
Reaction Role messages
5
50
Reactions per message
5
20
The reaction limit counts entries across Assigned roles and Taken roles together.
Edit or Delete a Reaction Role Message
Your existing setups appear under Your Reaction Roles.
From there you can:
search your Reaction Role messages;
open a setup and change its message, mode, reactions, or roles;
delete a setup you no longer need.
When reaction settings are changed, Asagi synchronizes the reactions on the Discord message. When a setup is deleted, Asagi also attempts to delete its Discord message.
Permissions and Role Hierarchy
For role changes to work, Asagi needs Manage Roles, and the Asagi role must be above every role it needs to assign or remove.
The dashboard filters role selections according to Discord role hierarchy and access rules. If the hierarchy changes later and a configured role becomes unavailable to Asagi, the reaction can remain visible while the role action fails.
For Single role per message, Asagi also needs Manage Messages so it can remove a member's other reactions from the message.
If a Reaction Role action cannot be completed, Asagi can surface the problem through dashboard notifications.
Where to Go Next
Continue with In-voice Temporary Roles to automatically manage roles while members are connected to selected voice channels or categories.
