How Temporary Roles Work
For a voice channel target, Asagi gives the configured roles when a member joins that channel and removes them when the member leaves it.
For a voice category target, the same roles apply across the voice channels inside that category. Members keep the roles while moving between channels in the same category, and the roles are removed after they leave the category or disconnect.
🎬 Temporary roles in action
See a temporary role being assigned when a member joins a configured voice target and removed when they leave.
Role Requirements
Asagi needs Manage Roles, and its highest Discord role must be above every role it needs to assign or remove.
Use roles intended for temporary access. When a member leaves the configured target, Asagi removes the roles assigned by that target.
Limits
A server can have up to 25 targets, with up to 25 roles per target.
The same voice channel or category cannot be added as a duplicate target.
Manage Existing Targets
The Your targets page lets you search, edit, or delete configured targets.
Deleting a target stops it from handling future voice state changes. Roles that were already assigned are not removed immediately just because the target was deleted, so avoid deleting an active target while members are still using it.
Troubleshooting
If roles are not being assigned or removed, check that the selected voice channel or category still exists, the configured roles still exist, Asagi has Manage Roles, and the Asagi role is above those roles.
If a role action fails, Asagi can surface the issue through dashboard notifications.
Where to Go Next
Continue with Private Rooms to let members create and manage their own temporary voice rooms.
