# Embed Messages

Embed Messages lets you create reusable message templates with regular text and Discord embeds. Templates can be reused across Asagi features or published directly to Discord from the dashboard.

Everything on this page is configured from **Dashboard → Content Creation & Utilities → Embed Messages**.

### Create a Template

1. Open **Embed Messages**.
2. Select **New template**.
3. Give the template a title.
4. Select **Create Message**.
5. Add message text, one or more embeds, or both.
6. Review the live preview.
7. Select **Save and close**.

Template titles can contain up to **32 characters**.

### Build the Message

A template can contain regular **Message Text**, embeds, or both.

Each embed can include:

* an author with an optional icon and link;
* a title with an optional link;
* a description;
* a custom color;
* an image and thumbnail;
* fields, including inline fields;
* a footer with an optional icon;
* a fixed timestamp or **Use the send time**.

You can add, duplicate, reorder, or remove embeds and fields while editing.

Discord formatting, custom emoji, mentions, timestamps, and Asagi variables are covered separately in **Message Formatting** and **Variables**.

### Reuse Templates Across Asagi

Saved templates are available through **My Templates** in features that support reusable messages, including Reminders, Interactive Messages, Reaction Roles, greetings, birthdays, Starboard thread messages, and Auto Moderation notifications.

When a feature remains linked to a template, future uses follow the current template content. Supported published panels such as Interactive Messages and Reaction Roles are also synchronized when the linked template is updated.

Messages that you manually publish from the **Embed Messages** page are different: they are standalone Discord messages and do not automatically change when you later edit the template.

### Publish a New Message

You can send the current template directly to Discord without leaving the editor.

1. Open the template.
2. Expand **Message**.
3. Select **Publish new**.
4. Choose a text or announcement channel.
5. Select **Publish**.

You can create a new channel directly from the channel selector if needed.

### Edit an Existing Message

Use **Edit existing** when you want the current template content to replace a message that Asagi has already sent.

1. Open the template you want to use.
2. Open **Message → Edit existing**.
3. Paste the full Discord message link or its message ID.
4. If you only enter an ID, select the message's channel as well.
5. Select **Edit**.

Asagi can only edit messages authored by Asagi. Editing a standalone message does not create an ongoing link between that message and the template.

### Use a Webhook

Enable **Use webhook instead** to publish or edit the message through a Discord webhook.

Paste the webhook URL, then use **Publish new** or **Edit existing** as usual. When editing a webhook message, use the webhook that owns that message.

Treat webhook URLs as private credentials. Anyone with a valid webhook URL can use that webhook until it is regenerated or deleted in Discord.

### Limits

| Item                      |                Limit |
| ------------------------- | -------------------: |
| Saved templates — Free    |               **10** |
| Saved templates — Premium |              **100** |
| Message text              | **2,000 characters** |
| Embeds in one message     |               **10** |
| Fields in one embed       |               **25** |
| Embed title               |   **256 characters** |
| Embed description         | **4,096 characters** |
| Field name                |   **256 characters** |
| Field value               | **1,024 characters** |
| Footer text               | **2,048 characters** |
| Author name               |   **256 characters** |
| Total text in one embed | **6,000 characters** |

### Permissions and Troubleshooting

For normal channel publishing, Asagi needs **View Channel** and **Send Messages**. Messages containing embeds also require **Embed Links**.

If the message contains `@everyone`, `@here`, or a role mention that requires elevated mention permissions, Asagi also needs **Mention @everyone, @here, and All Roles**.

If publishing or editing fails, check that the channel or webhook still exists and that the message is accessible. The dashboard can surface a notification when a Discord message action fails because of missing access or permissions.

### Where to Go Next
