# Anonymous Messages

Anonymous Messages lets members send messages without showing their identity in the public channel. You can also add reports, manual moderation, and Premium anonymous comments.

Everything on this page is configured from **Dashboard → Community Interaction → Anonymous Messages**.

### Set Up Anonymous Messages

1. Open **Anonymous Messages**.
2. Turn **Active** on.
3. Choose the **Channel** where approved anonymous messages should appear.
4. Optionally enable **Anonymous Comments**, **Report Anonymous Messages**, or **Manual Moderation Settings**.
5. Save your changes.

The main channel can be a text or announcement channel. You can also create a new channel from the selector.

### What Members Can Send

An anonymous message can contain text, an optional image, and an optional member mention. Approved messages also include a Like button that members can use to react without changing the message's anonymity.

The sender's identity is not shown in the public Anonymous Messages channel. Asagi still keeps the relationship between a message and its sender so moderation, blocking, reports, and sender-initiated removal can work correctly.

### Manual Moderation

Enable **Manual Moderation Settings** when you want new anonymous messages reviewed before they become public.

Choose a moderation channel, then save the settings. New submissions are sent there with **Approve** and **Reject** controls instead of being posted immediately to the public channel.

Moderators need **Manage Messages** to approve or reject submissions.

When a message is approved, Asagi publishes it in the configured Anonymous Messages channel. When a message is rejected, the moderator can optionally provide a reason and can then take an additional action against the sender, such as blocking their access to Anonymous Messages, kicking them, or banning them when the moderator has the required Discord permission.

### Reports

Enable **Report Anonymous Messages** and select a report channel to let members report anonymous messages for review.

A report includes the reporter, a link to the reported message, and the optional reason supplied by the reporter. Moderators can use the report controls to remove the anonymous message or block its author from using Anonymous Messages.

### Anonymous Comments

**Anonymous Comments** is a Premium feature that lets members continue an anonymous discussion around an approved message.

The first anonymous comment creates a public thread attached to the original message. Further comments are posted in that thread and can include text or an image. Comments can also be replied to inside the discussion.

### Moderating Access

Server moderators can block a member from using Anonymous Messages without making that member's identity public. Access can be blocked directly for a member or from a specific anonymous message when the author needs to be moderated.

Blocked members cannot use Anonymous Messages until their access is restored.

### Permissions and Troubleshooting

If anonymous messages are not delivered, check that the selected channel still exists and that Asagi can view it and send messages there.

For **Manual Moderation**, make sure the moderation channel is available and moderators who use the review controls have **Manage Messages**.

For **Anonymous Comments**, Asagi also needs the Discord permissions required to create and send messages in public threads.

If a configured channel becomes unavailable or Asagi loses required permissions, the dashboard can surface a notification for the affected feature.
